Booked In To Get My Milltek Fitted... First impressions of Pumaspeed...

Hey, been a while since I last posted on here - in that time the heatshielding over my exhaust has fallen off! Any (feeble) excuse to get a Milltek fitted I guess (plus my back box is blowing a bit... oo err missis). Anyhow, just called Pumaspeed, and I'm so impressed with the service - it makes such a change to call a garage and talk to someone who is helpful, polite and friendly. My Kat's booked in on Wednesday, and I honestly can't wait!

It's the cat-back system that's getting fitted btw - I'm so excited!

I had a cat-back Miltek 'Stealth' system fitted to my 1.7 the other week. My mate fitted it as he works at kwick-fit and he commented on what a good fit it was. It really is a quality upgrade. Enjoy

BTW if it was the thin flexible heat shield underneath the car, don't worry too much about it coming off. Mine was removed about 6 months ago after it started rattling and haven't had any problems. I'm pretty sure others on here have had theirs missing (or removed) for much longer with no ill effects. Think of it as a weight saving

Yeah, that's the stuff. I mentioned it when I called Pumaspeed and their advice was the same, just sling it. I'm a little apprehensive, as I can't help thinking it was there for a reason, but I'm happy to trust the experience of other owners (I read quite a few posts on here saying the same thing) and Pumaspeed on this one. The shielding over the cat is still in place, and I think that's where a lot of heat comes from isn't it? I remember old bangers we had scorching the grass sometimes when parked on camping trips, and it was always under the cat.

Phoned them back today, figured I might as well have a new rockerbox gasket fitted while I'm there to sort out a small oil leak that the car's had since I bought it. I really can't wait. I think the next step will be to snag a full black leather interior, then get the dash flocked in black... with a wheel refurb along the way too. That should make it one sexy momma of a car!

You getting the full system or just the cat back?

I have the same system and with a k&n gained 11bhp (every little helps lol). It sounds standard when your driving steadily, but if your giving it some beans it makes itself heard lol. Type it in on youtube as there are a few fiesta's/puma's with this system if you want to hear it.

It's just the cat-back - I'm not sure whether it's Pulse or Stealth, there doesn't seem to be a choice on the Pumaspeed site? Â I'll have to see what the score is when I get there.

11bhp seems quite a lot for an induction kit and cat-back - I look forward to seeing what imporvements the exhaust makes to eprformance - to be honest I'm not expecting that much, I'm justÂ replacedÂ myÂ knackeredÂ pipe,Â and after a nicer noteÂ whileÂ I'mÂ atÂ itÂ -Â extraÂ oomphÂ isÂ aÂ bonus!

I'm glad you put my mind at ease BOK - I was getting worried for a minute there - thought I might have to stuff it with cotton wool to stop it making that shameful farting noise (the exhaust pipe, not your mate...).

Oh well, 4 more sleeps! Â Think I might detour on my way back and come along my usual playground - the Snake Pass - should be fun!

Prepare to be surprised then - and to wear a bigger grin than now, also it will kill your stereo for at least a month, as you'll turn it off, open the window, just to hear that note at full bore = awesome.
Word of warning - dont play when its wet as 11bhp is quite a bit more, especially on a wet roundabout.

lol at the stereo comment, I hadn't realised but I aint used mine since I had my system fitted! Thats clearly why lol
11hp does seem like alot for induction and exhaust, but from my reseach into dyno's and rolling roads, they can't really be trusted.
Even so you have the right attitude in the extra ooomph only being "bonus". That way you can't be disapointed!

11bhp is from k&n, 4-2-1, sports cat, and cat back lol. And it was at engine advantages in essex, was featured in a fast ford rolling road day, so can't be that bad.

Now got 140bhp rolling roaded at streetracers in leicster (sp) with some FRP goodies and they're renouned for giving very conservative readings, so i'm happy with that and would put money on that I could take it to another set of rollers and get 145bhp.
