Hi there,

Can anyone identify this electronic module? It was plugged into the back of the standard 6000 CD head unit in my FRP but has no markings on it whatsoever, it is just a plain black box.

It is not bolted into the car either, just loose behind the stereo unit in the dash. The output wires disappear under the carpet so rather than strip the interior out to follow them to wherever they go I thought I'd ask here first. The car does not have a Ford CD autochanger (unless it is so fiendishly well hidden I have not realised it for the past 5 years!).

Thanks

Remind me of the number please, I might recall what a previous owner had done.

It is FRP 113

I thought it might be an aftermarket adaptor for an ipod / iphone or something (you can get them that link into the changer controls on the Ford head unit) but if that was the case why would the wires disappear under the carpet? I gave them a couple of exploratory tugs but they seem pretty firmly fixed somewhere and not about to slide out.

Looks to be for an aftermarket CD changer, you have red and white phono leads for audio and presumably a control cable

They're normally a round DIN style socket like so

Or round but with pins arranged in a square

My guess is if you can't already see them in the boot they'll be under the back seat or under the rear card at the side of the seat base

Ian G FTW!

I hadn't considered an aftermarket autochanger but the control cable matches the connector in the second link. I have given the wires a harder tug but they are not budging so it looks like I'll have to lift out the carpet to remove them but I'll try and get the rear seat squab out first and have a look.

Do you need to remove it?

It's serving no purpose so leaving it in will just bother me!
