Don't worry if you think you're holding other people up, it's not a race, drive to your abilities and as the weather conditions permit. The previous Hants meets have entered the New Forest, which is a 40mph zone anyway, it's for the scenery really.
Anyway, that's my two-peneth over with. See you all on 22nd!

What time are you meeting at and where is the pub??
My advice re:convoying....USE DIPPED HEADLIGHTS. It makes it easier for the organiser to keep the group together and helps other road users see us. Be safe, be seen...

Naff all to do otherwise? Oh dear Phil, thats a bit negative.
Seems you have overlooked the ever present need to talk Puma at the beginning of the meet.
If I manage to make it, then I'll be there around 11am, as regardless of you not being there till 12, I'm sure peeps will have plenty to chat about.
That services gathering was one of the more fun bits of the Hampshire meet last year, so I hope its the same this time around.
Hope you get the roads sorted too....like Chris said, some of the ones on your last meet weren't really very suitable.

Suggested way to calm this down.
Phil, keep doing the meets! You are an active org, and deserve credit where its due.
Take on board the constructive criticism that has been displayed here.
You have the one element that eludes most of us, YOUTH! Enjoy it, and make the most of it.
Just bear in mind that quite a few of us oldies prefer chin wagging to driving in convoy.
The puma driving experience is best enjoyed solo, on quiet roads, not in long chains of cars.
The puma owning experience is best enjoyed in a carpark or over dinner.
Anyway, keep planning and don't get too disheartened.
Cheers,

hummmmm......seems I should have logged on more frequently.......
What part of that told you that the road was undrivable? Surely accidents WILL happen whatever precautions are put in place. Even if the government bring the speed limits down to 5mph, accidents, life threating accidents, will ALWAYS happen. And why??? Why is because we all like to go fast. People have different opinions of fast. Mine will differ from others.
Every car has a limit to a road. Any car can take a tight sweeping corner at 5mph, not every car could do it at say 70mph. So why don't we all buy those 5mph cars......because we like to go fast.
Going fast doesn't have to be dangerous to yourself and everyone around you. Yes, things are more likely to go wrong but if you're tyre blew out on the motorway...well....I don't even what to think about it. Theres just times and places. I've NEVER advertised the fact that I think we should speed, especially in convoy but what happens when you follow another car....surely thats a convoy too???
In the workplace, EVERYONE has a responsability for health and safety. This too should be reflected into driving a vehicle. If someone wants to drive like a mad man, well, thats up to them.
Take for instance zig-zag hill. Who was it that said the distances between each hair pin was perfect to hit the limiter in 1st gear? Is that sensible driving styles? I also sat in the back of someones car up and down zig-zag hill. Was a thrilling experience and yes....I enjoyed going FAST.....but was it done with safety in mind? Was it heck. It was done because it was fun. Another time, someone did hand brakes down that hill....anything could happen then.
Can EVERYONE please consider their opinions before broadcasting it to one and all.
IF anyone is still reading this......the route (as Tim and Jackie can confirm (I HOPE )) is suitable for a puma convoy and shouldn't disturb too many locals. Inevitably there are one or two parts where we might need to give way to on coming traffic but we're not travelling on a motorway are we!!!!
If anyone wants details, I'll post them soon.

Just try to avoid a route which takes in 3 town centres and a long stretch of single track road!

We do go through Brockenhurst which could be a tad busy but no-ones gonna be bombing about so we should be quiet safe. Also going through Burley will be fun but only because everybody will stop and stare 8)
All in all....I think you'll enjoy it. Are you coming along Matt?

previously we have all met on the East bound services. Just go a junction on and turn round. Not far IIRC.
Thats right Kate. Rownhams is between J4 (M3 sliproad) and J3. Dependant on traffic, sometimes its easier to nip down to J2 as you have to battle with the M271 traffic. We'll be parked at the back of the car park (turn left as you enter the carpark) you'll see us all there.....US if I've arrived yet lol. Carrie, you know where the pub is don't you

Thanks for the advice Colin. Its the only one I think we as a group have adopted.
As for the pub, its called the Two Brothers. Its easier to follow us Col but if you want to meet us there, if you
take J5 off the M27. Take the 2nd exit off the roundabout (signed airport).
take the 2nd exit off the roundabout. (you'll go over a railway bridge with a huge post office building on either side)
Take the 3rd exit off the roundabout (under the motorway bridge) and past specsavers on your left and then the Ford Transit factory on your left and right.
Take the 1st exit off the roundabout and follow the road up to the brow of the hill. On the right you'll see a sign for JHaskins Garden Centre. Thats where we'll be parking and walking to the pub.
If you need anymore info, PM me.

Seems you have overlooked the ever present need to talk Puma at the beginning of the meet. :(
I had gambled on the fact that people wouldn't expect me there till 12 then...or maybe 1 at the latest!
But seriously, I want to be at the pub for 1. That gives us about 50 minutes. If people need longer to chat....longer then the WHOLE meet, looks like we better be there a tad earlier :eyes:
ha ha ha
See you all there

Hmmm, point in case.
Re-read my post. I stated that I didnt think it wise to brag about nearly losing it, as you are the meet co-ordinator. Nothing to do with the actual route.
It is your task to sell the day, not make people think twice about following you into a bend ;-)
The tack was to get you to think about what you were actually implying, not what you had actually come out and said.
Anyway, enough said on this. Good luck with the meet, and I hope the weather stays fine for you.
Cheers

Roll up, Roll up......come along to the greatest, most amazing meet of the 2003 year so far. Meet up with the friendliest bunch of people around. Chat to anyone about life or puma related experiences. Its a fantastic way to find out about the car we all love and drive.
Mooch into the beautiful New Forest where you will get a taste of how lucky we are to be living close to it.
Hope to see you all there!
Any problems, let me know
