Hi guys,
Quiet new to the world of pumas

6 month ago I rescued a 1.7 puma from a date with a scrap yard in the midlands,
The car was just in need of love.
After man years of off roading, myself and my brother ( garage manager - which is vital) decided to take on the tracks of the uk.
Our budget is zero, so it's beg borrow and never steal, just borrow for a very long time without owners knowledge.
Well after a winter of hard graft and craftiness on my behalf, we have a formidable track weapon.

So far we have only done oulton park, which we completed 40 laps of flat out racing, with out so much as a hiccup

Welcome
B) loving the new life the Puma is getting as track weapons
Do you have any photos of the build progress or finished result you could share please?
I bet you changed the seats ;) the standard seats are rolly polly on track I expect.

If you check out www.facebook.com/trackdaypuma all the pics are on there.

It's totally stripped
Omp struts front back and bottom
4-2-1 manifold and race pipe
16" gti wheels
K&n with cold air feed
Lime green samco hoses all round
Omp steering wheel
Racing seat and 4 point harness
Fire extinguisher
Lowered 40mm
Axle spacer 20.5

It's a working progress, it's far from quick
But corners like a gnat

Once it's stripped out all fire proofing and heat shields it gets pretty warn in there, plus when your whizzing round track it gets sweaty Betty,
Plus it looks nice! :-)

I do have a group of 9 holes on the bonnet to let some heat out, but it still gets very hot in there

You could always fit some bonnet lifter blocks to the bonnet hinges.
Helps get the heat out better.
Dan has them on his Racing Puma.

Car looks great :) Wish I had room and a garage to build a track only Puma, instead of using my FRP on the track.
MK4 XR3i
Mk3 XR3i
R Reg 1.7 Puma
T Reg 1.7 Lux Puma
Now its Racing Puma 072

I do have some blocks to fit on, will be on for next track day hopefully,
I'm to scared to take my impreza on track, for fear of slamming it in the tyre wall.
The roof vent fits just fine , and I think looks the business
