The window could also have fallen out of its runner inside the door.

My windows are getting a bit sticky, so I tried unscrewing the interior door trim today to have a look at the mechanism. Three obvious screws came out, and the thing didn't seem any less attached to the door. I didn't want to force it and damage anything - is this more complicated than I am giving it credit for?

undo all the srews on the door cards including the one in the door handle, then the door card are fixed with pop in attachments u will see these when the door card is loose also it may be glued to the metal frame off the door un pop them they may need a good yank the glue may need to be cut with a knife etc if ur lucky the door cards may have been removed before and u will not need to cut the glue.,take the door card off and check the regulator thats the motor this helps the glass go up and down ,has said before the glass my have come out off the runners....check the both the runners and regulators,if its just the runners its easy if its the regulator email and i will advice you....

Are you hearing any clunking sounds when you try to wind the window up?

If it's not jumping out of the rubber runners, then just lubricating the runners with silicone grease might solve the problem.

Finding a source of silicone grease might be a problem though - it's as rare as rocking horse shit, in my experience.

If you do find some, let me know!

Actually, I've been after a tube of silicone grease for a while now, but not to lubricate my Puma window runners.

My concertina shower screen needs to be lubricated with the stuff regularly (according to the instructions).

Nice one Pam smile.gif

I had a problem with my drivers side. So much so on at least 2 occasions it jammed half way up and would not budge.

I then learnt that if I pulled the window from the side nearest the engine (whilst holding the button) it would go up again. I thought that I would need to take the door apart but tried silicone spray first.

I got it from Halfords, few quid. I lowered the window and sprayed it liberally (ie loads) down each end. Put the window up then down and repeated. I didn't hold back on the stuff.

No problem at all since then for over 18 months. Worth a try before you take the door apart!

This thread has just reminded me that the Puma's door window angle is adjustable.

The Puma has an unusual door design in that the window and the door itself are completely separate.

On most cars, the door is one complete unit - the window frame is part of the door. With the Puma, the window frame is separate from the main body of the door, and the angle (relative to the door) can be adjusted.

I know from experience that if the angle is wrong, the window can jump out of its runners.

Pam, you haven't had any work done recently around the door area, have you?

My Puma has been problem free so far, and yesterday morning at 4.15am it gave me one lol. I pulled up at the barrier at Manchester Airport to leave my car there whilst we are in Spain. I put my window down to put my credit card in the barrier machine. I went through the barrier and then pressed my window button for it to go up. It went halfway up, then it made a funny noise as if the motor was struggling, and wouldn't go up any further. Phil grabbed the window with both hands and pulled the window up an inch, and I pressed the button, and it went up the rest of the way by itself. The timing couldn't have been worse lol, I thought my Puma was going to be left at Manchester Airport for a week with the window down. Phil seems to think it won't cause me a problem again as he think he heard it go back on the runner , but I'm not sure. Do you think it will be ok, and back on it's runner?

My Puma was obviously protesting at being left at the Airport. sad.gif
