There's a place round where I live doing hand car washes for a fiver, I finally decided to let them on my Puma today, and I was pretty impressed.

Took about 10 minutes:

Really I was just being lazy as I got a new set of alloys to put on it, and as the old ones were black with brake dust, this way I got a clean car and didnt get dirty hands changing the wheels biggrin.gif

Looks good, and your black rubber strip at the bottom of your front bumper is missing wink.gif

Now that's a good idea. Don't think our local Tescos do it though. How much do Sainsbury's charge Pete?, might have a look to see if our localish one does it.

I'd love too, but I'm too lazy sad.gif I bought some scratchx because there are loads of swirl scratches on it (i think the previous owner liked car washes) and I've done a couple of panels and really want to do the rest.

MUD MONKEY! laugh.gif laugh.gif wink.gif wink.gif
Where did you go for the wash? I've gone to the one by the Boreham junction on the A12 before, and the one on the Battlesbridge old Wickford road. I know the latter one as the convict car wash. I swear everyone that works there has just got out of jail. laugh.gif

One pretty close to where I live - on the causeway near Tesco if anyone knows the area. Not sure where the workers come from but they were chatting away in some strange language.

There are 3 places selling cars within a few hundred yards, and each of them has a puma there at the moment biggrin.gif

That milly went a while ago, it was overpriced but I still took it for a test drive biggrin.gif
I've seen it a couple of times since then, the owner never flashes back at me though. They've got a nice green V reg in there at the moment.

Sorry, but there is no way, if the car was caked in dirt, that you could remove it safely without scratching the paintwork to pieces in 10 mins

It takes me 10 mins just to initally brush down my car of loose dirt and THEN I go over it with a terry cloth to remove the remaining residue - another 10 mins at least

Id never let anyone other than ME wash my car.

No one else would treat it the same as it isnt theirs, they would make fundemental errors...like using a sponge!!, then using the same sponge to clean the sills then spread the muck and grit etc round the rest of the car...causing swirls. Id need a day cutting them out!! blink.gif

If your not as meticulous as me then i would take it to a mechanical car wash rather than give a monkey Å“10 to do it, cos they will both leave swirls and the mechanical one would be Å“5 cheaper!!!

he he... i'm glad i wasn't the only one thinking that....

which reminds me when I had my Fiesta GhiaX, took it to asda once for the so called 'hand wash'.... i sat in the car and watched this complete muppet dip a sweeping brush into a large bucket and then proceed to go down the side of my car with it..... mm not happy

now that was a brush down...

lol
