Don't use a thicker grade in a Puma ohmy.gif It will knacker the engine!!!

I drive Wugsy as hard as I expect you will on the track....Most days ohmy.gif
Proverbially why he is having major open engine surgery at the local Ford garage at the moment....
I'm picking my old 1.7 Puma as a courtesy car up tomorrow as they have had him a week sad.gif

I use maybe a half pint of oil every couple of months. (500 miles or so)

I haven't used anything but 5w30 synth to date

In higher mileage / hard use cars - have many had bore wear problems? Can you replace nikasil liners / have an engine rebuit??

I don't think its economic to have the Nikasil liners redone.

My first Puma had well over 100K on it.
It went much better than the much lower mileage one I had second, and it never used oil.

My MotoX bike has a Nikasil liner. If it damages the bore, they are throw away items. sad.gif

Your FRP being an X reg I would have thought would not have been at risk of bore liner breakdown as the donor Puma would most likely have had an engine built/lined in Spain and had not been sent back to Japan for this work as part of the original engines.

Have fun on Thursday biggrin.gif

Well I have just got back and wow, what a fantastic day. I will definately be doing plenty more track days.

There was also lots of fantastic cars there, a couple of caterhams which blitzed pretty much everyone, a noble, and plenty of porsches and lotus's.

The frp performed pretty well, Under braking and corning it was trully awesome*, trying to pass people on the straights was a little difficult as that is the only time when you can overtake and is the FRP weakest area.

* except this one time.

Advice for what to bring is everything you can think of. As it is a novice day nobody has any tools, and if you put it in the gravel like me you need to get every wheel off, remove the gravel which gets everywhere, get the tyres off the wheels to remove the stones that get stuck between the tyre wall and rim. Lost about 2 1/2 hours because of this :-(

Also do not drive with the windows open as stones will come in the car when doing the above.

Finally don't where decent clothes, you will probably get a bit dirty.

over cooked Clearways
wow that was close, I have always thought there was not a lot of run off there for the potential speed

on my first track day at Brands a mini munched the litter at Paddock, only they were clumbys getting the litter out of the rim and punctured the tyre with their screw driver blink.gif

glad you had fun and all OK ja_cool.gif
