Depends what wheels you've got?

No bigger than 20mm with standard wheels on a standard Puma. No bigger than 30mm with standard wheels on a Racing Puma.

I put 35mm spacers on my puma with standard wheels, it made the wheels flush with the arches.

Sorry to jump onto this thread, but just a quick question,
Can you put two spacers together?

Obviously longer bolts but could you put two standard puma 12mm spacers together to make a 24mm spacer?

Thanks for any help.

Cant see why you couldnt use two spacers, just make sure your bolts are the right grade.

Ive got 10mm spacers and 6.5j wheels and it fills the arches out well.

The FRP had 30mm spacers as standard (I think!)

The FRP had 20mm spacers as standard, but the press cars had 30mm spacers. Many FRP owners upgrade to 30mm spacers.

What are the downsides to adding larger spacers to the FRP? Why did they reduce the size for the main production?

They reduced from 30mm to 20mm to reduce potential stresses in the beam axle. v4 still has its 30mm and shows no problems.

Pretty sure Peter Beatie said it was to do with the "Type Spec" or something like that when he spoke at Duxford.
My car has had a 10mm Grayson spacer kit on for a few years now.

To give me "Press Car" width.

T Reg 1.7 Lux Puma

The 30mm spacers where not used for 2 reasons.

Reason 1; Cost, 30mm require a bigger billet of aluminum to machine and has a lot of waste. You can get a billet of aluminium slightly thicker then 20mm and this is perfect for machine for 20mm spacers.

Reason 2; Wheel bearings, as a car manufacture Ford has to insure certain components last for a certain period of time and miles. When testing with the original 2 press cars, the Boreham team found that the bearings failed quickly than expected.

I've not had any problems with 30mm spacers and I know a lot of other FRP owners haven't either.

Good luck getting hold of Peter Beattie! Even knowing his phone numbers and email address and I struggle getting in contact with him.

I do know he is out in China at the moment, his current job role at Ford involves long trips away.

I don't think the was any plans to increase the FRP rear wing width. The only person who could tell you would be Peter or his dairy from 1999/2000.
