Question - you fitted a FRP gearbox to your's - in anticipation for the bigger wheels etc - from Pumabuild - is the final drive affected

Was thinking of getting a new box and the FRP box is only a £100 or so more but didn't want to muck up the ratios getting one over a standard box

Some have said the gear ratios are the same (FRP to 1.7 box) but the final drive is different

Any advice ????????? John

I got it as the Frp box is stronger in first and second and as the frp had 17" wheels they made the final ratio likethe 1.4 or 1.6 box can't remember but it makes it accelerate quicker as iv got 15" wheels which is what I like but when I driving at like 60 you sitting at about 3000 or 3500 revs can't remember properly haven't driven her to over a year .but the revs sit higher if that makes sence .i brought mine brand new from a man on ebay who brought some of the Frp stuff from ford .

Has it been mapped yet - what are you going to use Dreamscience I'm told is good - I have a Bluefin on mine which works but it doesnt seem to clear the torque restricter in 1st and 2nd gears - I had an old R reg one which was much quicker off the line!

I have already had it remapped after Frp manifold , 200 cell sports cat ,Frp cams ,Frp air box ,removed the torque limiter .had it remapped on the rolling road Essex it was completely diffrent after it come out of there it was a great feeling since then iv added new Frp gearbox pumaspeed sports clutch and now the manifold .

Do you have much left to do now until you are fully finished?
searching is fruitful | I'm a sponge not a mechanic | please do try that if stuck with a Puma problem whilst waiting for a reply | For the Puma fan this read 'The Inside Story Book' is very nice to own sometimes still seen for sale
