They are, so I'm told, imminent biggrin.gif

Photographs of them installed on FRP#0062 will be up very shortly... When they are up, I'll create a poll to guestimate demand, which will pretty much dictate how many beer tokens they're gonna cost...

Hopefully not too much mind smile.gif

Ok, ok.. The absolute latest on these damned badges wink.gif

My supplier has has one or two technical problems concerning the manufacturing of them, but, reassure me now that the have solved it. I was told I can expect my delivery (several weeks overdue) by next Wednesday...

Suffice to say I'm only partially holding my breath on this, having been constantly let down on previous delivery dates. I seriously don't have problems being told bad news, hell, I work for an electronics manufacturing company and know all too well how what would initially be a "piece of cake" job turn nasty.... I was initially thinking that the entire job would be laser tooled - in so much that the recessed areas around the logo, and the url in the rim, would be ablated by laser - not the case. The laser used is capable of cutting stainless steel to 6mm (funnily enough, the thickness of the keyrings) without much problem. However, it cannot ablate (remove surface thickness) material at all, only cut.

So, to achieve the recessed area, the stainless steel is being etched away with strong acids, following a mask "printed" onto the top surface of the stainless. If ever you have made printed circuit boards in school, you know that ferric chloride *loves* to eat copper... this is more or less exactly the same process, using stronger chemicals on stainless smile.gif

Anyways, the short and curlies of how the actual job is being produced matters not to the general populus...

Wednesday next week is D-Day smile.gif

My Stainless Steel Badges, where made in two parts then glued together.

Then the recess filled with paint then polished.

If you have trouble with your supplier I may be able to help.

Although it does take a bit of time to make the badges

look here

The ones I've designed will look nothing like Jon's either, much to my surprise as I only ever saw the one from a distance he took of the front...

I have 3D solid models on my 'puter here I can take some renderings from... I'm kinda reluctant to offer them to the site as I know for a fact the real McCoy will look the dogs danglies... All I can say to describe them at the mo is that they mimic the silver/blue Ford badges....

Oh, sod it... I put some pics up in a bit, it's still early, only just gone midnight wink.gif

Looks fair to me. Nothing wrong with advertising the site either.

The badges look great J, will they be secure once on? If I had one I'd hate it to be nicked :x But I guess if someone is determined enough nothing is safe.

I have sourced 3M VHB (very high bond) foam tape which will be applied across the entire area of the badge, not simply a ring of adhesive around the perimeter.... VHB tapes stick the like the proverbial to a blanket wink.gif

So long as the mating surfaces are clean and grease free, you won't expect to have any problems... smile.gif
