Wizard Of Nos Works His Magic On #453.. Nitrous Install

was quite an eventful day.....
was there getting a few tweaks to my controller to sort out a fuel transducer issue (which also meant re-locating the transducer nearer the fuel rail)....and also to get another spare bottle with bracket etc...
had a double take too when another FRP owner pulled up for a refill... (a fairly new owner not on here yet)....
also i met Trevor Langfield himself (The Wizard).... Really enjoyed chatting with him, his wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm for Nitrous is just amazing
also, WON do a 'pump assisted' refill which means you get a really solid fill of liquid Nitrous in the bottle....maybe it's just my imagination but the performance seems noticably better from their fills... hence getting a second bottle while i was there....
pitty it's gona rain like the clappers over the next couple of days now...

been up and down at WON hq recently trying different software versions of the controller.... <img src="http://www.pumapeople.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />
anyway... decided to come away with another spare bottle and also try some different jets... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
nothing too drastic but have upped the settings to roughly 60hp now... (from 50)
the difference is like... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />
this stuff is so effective it's untrue... the car feels like it's on steriods... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/roflmao.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="roflmao.gif" />
iv'e had to tweak the max settings for slightly longer build time as it's getting a bit quick.. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
------------------------------------
also,
iv'e designed a thermal wrap for the bottle made from thermawrap insulation and dressed with either Acoustic carpet or Alcantara....
this will be a bit lost on non nitrous users but basically, when you switch the system on, the controller kicks in the bottle heater to warm the bottle and bring it up to optimum pressure (950psi) (if you have the heater and the Max Extreme)....
a wrap round the bottle helps to hold the heat in instead wrming up the boot space area.... also it will maintain a more even bottle pressure too.... and for owners with exposed bottles to sunlight it could also help to prevent the bottle(s) going way over pressure, which can easily happen when temperatures go over 25C outside....
so here is the bottle in camoflage... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Would like to see it with the extra 10hp, but can see you getting bored with that and creaping even higher soon enough, lol

he he.. very funny... it doesn't get that hot..
i doubt it... i was just curious more than anything to see the difference with a small increase....
to go more would be into the realms of forged pistons, upgraded Head gasget, retarding Ignition, possible fuel pump, double bottle setup needing an extra heater.... £££££ and the car is actually pretty rapid now so if anything i may just go back to 50 and enjoy a few more squirts per bottle...

this is a chap doing some R&D (and testing) of the new 'REVO' smooth Nitrous delivery system for Wizards...
this new system TOTALLY blows away all other previous pulsed technology using Solenoids which have certain physical and electromagnetic limitations.... the new system works like an electronic tap... Runs of 1 Volt and is totally smooth controllable delivery from 1 to 100% which is impossable to achieve using solenoids..( even the WON ones which are specifically designed for pulsing!)
anyway... i won't try say anymore, as the technology is way beyond me... they are not for sale to the public yet but hopefully will be at some point next year when the technology has more proven results in the 'pro mod' crazy world of Nitrous...
oh... i forgot the Vid .. lol

check out how smooth and controlled this run is...

here is his quickest yet... just a few more runs and tweaks to the setup now and a 6 sec pass is on the cards shortly... sadly time is running out for this so we may not see it till next season...

you know me too well...
with regards to pricing ... it's still the 'best bang per buck' as far as i'm concerned.. it's not so much the price thats annoying, more the speed at which you can use this stuff up, as it's a little addictive having more power in an FRP...
anyhow, it won't be long before petrol overtakes it in my opinion...

I was also very lucky to be able to experence the noz'ed up beast! when chris was driving i could tell it was quick! but then he let me drive it!!! (which i am now wishing i didnt as i need the kit in my frp lol) he showed me the settings from the controler and its amazzing what you can do on it!
any way off i went! OMG its amazing! what a difference it makes, HOW THE FRP SHOULD BE! then when he turned it up to 100% i was amazzed! And its such a tidy job! looks just like the std frp engine whicj is what i like best i think.
Big Big thanks to chris!
the only problem now is i need to save hard!
the drive home was depresing without that extra bit.
lol
