Thats one hell of a cheap quote on a clutch.

All the places i phoned around 6/7 quoted me between £300 and £400 for the whole thing and fitting.

Just to add: i dont know how much you paid for your car but my dad noticed the clutch had gone a day after i bought it.

And as a results i phoned the person i bought it off - purely because i should have been made aware it was shot away when i bought it. In the end i said either he replaced it and i paid a max of £150 or i would give the car back (when i was never going to do) and get my money back.

That'll be clutch only at that price. Clutch+fitting should be £250-£300-odd. Close to £400 would be pretty steep.

come up and see me...make me smile

My Ford garage quoted me something like that, but when they did it it turned out cheaper - ~£310. Took less time for them to do than the Ford guideline, I think. Can't speak for the rest of them, mind.

Cambelt change and clutch change are needed methinks wink.gif

Yep,

When I got my Puma last year, they were the 2 things that needed doing, plus a leaky water pump. Car now drives like a dream, and I even beat a xxxx in a Vectra this morning who looked a tad confused as I floored it past him.....and yep, he had a hook in the back for his jacket

I had great fun on the A322 near Bracknell last night, when a silly t ranting2.gif t in a Toureg (Toerag) tried to beat me away from the lights, some people never learn.

I tried this once before with these silly 4x4's, unfortunatley for me it was the roads were greasy and i was up against a debaged Porsche Cayenne, but i think it may have been the turbo the speed it shot off into the distance at 9.gif ja_stupid.gif

does anyone know of any good reading or books on the Puma, first car I've had that Icant get a Haynes maual for to bore the wife with, I love getting my hands dirty but not without some instructions first, wahts that CD thing millions of people sell on Ebay like, had a one for my FTO but it was cr*p.

The TIS CD is an illegal copy therefore banned from being sold on here, Haynes Manual for the Fiesta comes close as its really the same car but different body.

Actually Nigel's my dad......................only kidding,

I saw both of the Mansell boys at Thruxton, during the Touring car meeting, racing BMW single seaters.

remember that if you leave it too long and try and stretch it you could also damage the flywheel which would then need to be skimmed bumping up the cost. my missus had to have it skimmed when she popped her clutch on the fez mad.gif

Even if it wasnt the turbo It would have thrashed you, them cayennes are quick for big lumps.

The regular one (the one you see 90% of the time 1112202173.gif ) is pretty slow as I remember. Stupid car anyway IMO ph34r.gif

My clutch is just about to give up (not as bad as original posters yet though) and I've just been quoted Å“380 +VAT from a non-Ford garage (that I trust). That is for clutch, release bearing and gearbox oil. Sound fair?

Are the prices mentioned above +VAT too or all in?

Mine was all in. Pretty sure it included the release bearing too but I'd have to check.
