In other news changed the transmission oil on the swift as per service schedule, apparently quite vital after its first 27k as it can knacker the bearings due to all the bits from it being a new box

open for feedback on this, reason i did this was because wing mirrors have the paint rubbed away at the edges, otherside is worse

Posted Image

so wrapped them in CF to see what it looked like and to tidy that up

back on the car

what you reckon, do the otherside or not?

why couldn't ford provide a gearbox drain plug on the IB5 ... its a PITA to pop the end plate off or driveshaft out and tilt the car on a jack :head:

todays job was to clean the brakes, was advised to do this maybe once a year because the calipers dont have dust seals

Smart pads removed

Posted Image

loads of life left on the wilwood pads

Posted Image

calipers off and state of brake deposits

Posted Image

Posted Image

pushed pistons out against some wood

Posted Image

used some wurth brake cleaner to clean up the calipers and pistons

Posted Image

caliper back on

Posted Image

all back together

That wurth break cleaner did a tidy job and I expect it was quick too.

was feeling frisky after work tonight so launched into more weight saving lol
started to cut round the seal line of the boot

Posted Image

all the way round

Posted Image

drilled out spot welds

Posted Image

started tearing bits off

Posted Image

off

Posted Image

line followed quite nicely with the rubber seal i thought

Posted Image

need to tidy up those spot welds somehow, maybe a deep bit of edge trim will do then of course everything is going to be sprayed up nicely when the cage is in

edge trim on

Posted Image

Posted Image

shit removed

Posted Image

about 8kgs there altogether, that coupled with these i also removed

Posted Image

they are 1kg EACH equals about another 10kgs gone

general car pics

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

fitted the small metal cups instead of the stupid heavy damper vibration weights

Posted Image

bonnet pins arrived

Posted Image

fitted them on

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

which meant i could get rid of all this shit
