A regular problem appears to be accessing the boot when the solenoid does not operate - putting in an internal switch will bypass all the electronics, but it is worth checking the key release.

With the boot open, put the key in the boot button, rotate clockwise and the bit in the red circle should move to release the catch. You can engage the catch by pushing it with a screwdriver and checking again. If when you turn the key, you cannot release the catch, then without the solenoiod being actuated, you probably won't be able to get in.........
