Right where to start...pics will follow.

For the second time round I'm now reaquainted with FRP #441. It was a car I had always regretted selling but at the time the funds came in handy. She is now back with me and work has started on the restoration to full health. The previous keeper had made some valuable contributions towards this goal by fitting new OEM suspension plus top mounts, rear dics and poly bushes to the rear beam. It also has original centre caps on the wheels which is something I didnt do last time around. Unfortunately the car had a brief off at the ring and sustained some bodywork damage to the rear quarter, nothing that would fail an MOT but bad none the less.

On the drive home an intermediate shaft bearing went causing damage to the o/s drive shaft, this meant I had to sell my modified standard 1.7 quickly to pay for new shafts etc. it will be replaced with another 1.7 at some stage in the next couple of months.

The list of work thus far:

New drive shafts, bearings fitted plus new boots and clips.
New airbox fitted.
New bonnet switch fitted.
Cambelt and water pump plus ancilliaries fitted (The car had been timed as a standard 1.7 last time it was done!!)
Cat bypass fitted to retain the original Cat for MOT's and Milltek exhaust refitted as it was knocking on the rear bumper.
Maf cleaned.
New fuel filter fitted.
New bolts on the engine cover and cam cover.
OEM plugs fitted.
Sill plates removed in readiness for the respray.
Deep clean of engine bay.
Intermediate service filters and oil etc
Drivers window reseated to eliminate door rattle.
New headlights fitted.
New front grill fitted.
New fuel cap rubber washer fitted and fuel filler neck cleaned(It was leaking fumes)
New wipers fitted and bolt covers.
New bumper trims obtained from a member on here (Thanks Bentley)

Jobs to do over the next couple of months include:

New front discs and pads (Currently 85% worn)
Full body respray including underside seal(There is light corrosion on the underside of the boot floor, a common area)
New tyres all round.

I'm looking forward to getting her all sorted by the Summer, as some of you know my standards are rather high but damn I love a project :)

Yep your standards are rather high :) but I hold the 'don't touch' cap ;) lol
Depending on your milage you may not need to repalce the front pads and discs for ages if not even this year.
I got 33k out of my front Alcon discs with track use and approx 17k a set for matching pads.

New Alcons and pads fitted, nice new shims and plenty of copper grease, no more squeal :) Very happy bunny now, also thanks to Eldudes piston and caliper exchange two years ago all seals and pistons were in top top condition.Rear of the car undersealed and rear beam refurb completed, poly bushes still lok brand new too.

Next job is new tyres all round and then the long awaited respray and wheel refurb, roll on May :)

Not far off being a minter now, its been a little frustrating and Im already over budget but to hell with it its nearly there now. It drives beautifully :)

Cant wait to see some pictures and hope to see you at some shows this year?

Yes Chris they looked like new when cleaned, your right they are your custom jobs. I should have taken some pics but as usual Im a little slack in that department. Just bedding in the new set up then I will probably take out and clean again.

Since last posting I have had the wheels refurbed in the original colour and put some new tyres on. As I type 441 is tucked up in the bodyshop for a full respray. It will probably be a couple of weeks until she returns.Looking forward to it :)

Don't forget the rubber trim to sit between the bumpers if they are coming off. It finishes the car off.
Hope it all goes well :)

I did a wipe of sealant on Vas' car and it looks a lot tidier in my humble opinion :bleh:
