The 195 rim works best with 195 tyres. Changing the tread width alters the dynamics of the tyre wall. Nearly ended up in a ditch cos of this.
Reducing in size would also cause similar effects when cornering hard...

Also worth looking at different tyre manufacturers as there tyre wall design differs which will help eliminate the tyre rubbing that your getting

I can understand that fitting 205's on an FRP will affect handling but coolerking is running FRP wheels with the standard puma suspension geometry.

Agree entirely with ya Matt, fitting one size either up or down should not be a problem, it wiil change the handling characteristics, sometimes dramatically.

Im not saying this cos of bar room chat, i've had it happen, as Jill was all to aware, as she saw it occur.
All im saying is, be aware that under adventurous driving conditions, a tyre that is either over or undersize may have unpredictable handling characteristics

As for the safety of the tyre on the rim, after market alloys that are 17" with a 7" width are fitted with 205/40/17 tyres. So IF the FRP wheels are 7" wide this tyre size will be OK.
For a definitive answer ask a qualified tyre fitter that you trust. They will be able to advise you, after all if there is a problem it would be them that you would go back too.
