I have done it Kate
Violet and black wires.
I am really an electrical / electronics engineer according to me apprenticeship papers.
But trained additionally to do the mechanical bits, lathe, welding etc
The wires are quite well hidden under the rubber boot seal.
Mine is fitted to the boot lid, not in the roof lining like Colin's

I'm sure all Puma's had one fitted??
You won't get any discount on your insurance with a cat 1 or 2 alarm / immobilizer unless its fitted by a recognized company.
You then need the certificate of installation.
I fitted a cat 2 immobilizer to my MK3 XR3i, the company who supplied it, stamped the certificate and put it in the box before posting.
My MK4 XR3i had a good system, it would "page" you.
So you could nip back with a base ball bat etc

Em no, I will take a picture (rushes down stairs with camera)
Self adhesive pads supllied.
It fits high enough on the window, that I can only "just" see the bottom of it in the rear view mirror.
I saw it on a stall at Combe last Saturday, £5
He had loads of them, so I thought I would give it a go.

yeah im aware of not being given any discounts. the standard alarm is deadddd! (1997 plate puma)
i refuse to pay £200+ just for a bit of paper- could understand if i had a evo, skyline, FRP etc... but it is just a standard puma after all and would like to protect my ICE… its nothing special- just the damage the feckors do to get at it :@
Once had someone a few years back bend open one of my doors and robbed my whole sound system when my car was packed outside the front of my house since I have fitted alarms there has never been a problem... I know there not great, but it is a deterrent.
I have a basic knowledge with electronics as I have completed a BTEC national diploma in electrical engineering, then done a HNC in manufacturing and mechanical engineering, which my last company put me through as I worked as a CNC electro/mechanical field service engineer.

Check with your Insurance Company first.
I had a cat 1 fitted and it made no difference with NUD.
The Haynes Fiesta Manual (3397) can answer a lot of your questions.

exactly! it would reduce mine by £15 a year... hence not worth it if i can fit one myself...

He gave me the best bit of advice going....
If you have a good stereo in the car with a big amp.
Turn it down around town and when pulling in to a garage etc.
He would listen for a decent stereo in a car and when he saw it parked up !!!
In and out a few seconds. Never bothered about an alarm going off.
Who even looks these day??
He never got caught.
If you have a mask Kenwood like mine, or a face off one. Turn it round of take the front off it.
Be sensible where you park...
Just common sense really.
