As above i have stopped smoking today,,
went out in the puma for a wee run yesterday as it had not moved for 2 weeks ,and it was stinking of stale fag smoke from my last outing..
so after driving with all windows open for ages i also worked out that i have better things to spend £200 a month on..
so this is my first day , not got too grumpy yet ,

Good luck with quitting.
My last attempt lasted 3 months smoke free. Made the big mistake of "just one wont hurt" and that was it, back smoking like I had never stopped.
Gonna give it another bash very soon as I am starting back in the gym this week after 2 months away from it. Christmas drink & food to burn off plus getting fitter.
At 43 yrs old thats not as easy as it sounds LOL

Good luck. I gave up 17 years ago and it's hard going. Even now I still would like a cigerette but the smell puts me off

There was a time when i used to come out of my house, light one up get in the car and go to work, but lately ive found myself having the fag before getting in, i dont know why, its very odd, maybe a subconcious attempt to give up, one location at a time, i dont know :S

the whole smoking thing is just habit based,
and of course a desire for nicotine
will substitute the nicotine with cider,,, sounds a good idea to me
got free patches on my way home today from the chemist
enough for 2 weeks
so will give them a try and see how we get on,,

we get free prescriptions up here in the chosen land

not sure if you can get free patches down south

I went to my local NHS quit clinic and was given Champix on prescription for twelve weeks, thought they were brilliant.

Agree... Pretty much exactly the same for me.

week 6 was the killer for me, took a few attempts to beat that point, then it got easier. Just remember one thing, even if you have a slip up, just keep on going. It is the defeatest part of you that will take over if you don't.

There are days when I could easily get some and light up... though those days are rarer than ever.

It is not all doom and gloom, I gave up must be 15 years ago and I do not weight any more today then I did back then (before I gave up).
Concentrate first on giving up, if that means you replace a fag with a carrot so be it to start with, when you are further in control you can look to the food side of things if you replaced one crutch with another (assuming not carrots as they are cool).
Was I perfect no, but did I keep trying yes.
Do I still want one, the smell of the match on first light is nice to whiff but other than that no, as I find today I feel pretty turned off by smelling other smokers.
Once I broke the habit of when I had been having one it became easier plus I had a money jar for the savings that I could see increasing.
The other one that was inititally in the house was a jam jar of used fag butts with a little water and a lid. Ever get tempted take the lid of and take a smell.
Hang in there.

Good on ya, i gave up last august unexpectedly (due to a major heart attack),
went from 30 a day to zero cold turkey style.
Obviously the longish stay in hospital helped with that,
but whenever i feel like one i think of my wifes look of horror when she saw me in A&E
and the 2 holidays i've missed out on as still unable to fly.
